This is a critical hire for that journey. As our Head of Risk / Chief Risk Officer, you will lead and scale the risk function to meet the demands of a business in the process of becoming a credit institution. You will report directly to the Management Board member responsible for risk function oversight, and will own the day-to-day operation and continuous development of the risk function as Mintos makes that transition.

What you'll do:

• Lead the risk team, ensuring the function operates in full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

• Lead the transition of Mintos' risk management framework to meet banking supervision requirements, including development of ICAAP and ILAAP, maintaining the risk appetite framework, and preparing associated governance documentation ahead of and following the banking licence.

• Combine strategic oversight with hands-on involvement in the function's key initiatives.

• Continuously enhance the efficiency of the function by leveraging technology, automation, and AI-driven tools.

• Ensure smooth, transparent, and proactive collaboration with the regulator.

• Act as a trusted partner to the management board and supervisory board, aligning risk strategy with broader business objectives.

• Foster a strong culture of ownership, accountability, and integrity across the risk management team and wider organisation.

Your professional skills and background:

• 5+ years of experience in risk management within a bank or regulated financial institution with demonstrated seniority and across several risk areas, including credit risk, market risk, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk.

• Deep knowledge of the prudential banking framework, including CRR/CRD, ICAAP/ILAAP.

• Strong strategic mindset combined with a hands-on leadership style.

• Experience working with regulators and auditors.

• Track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

• Excellent English; Latvian language skills are a strong advantage.

The compensation package for this position begins from €6000 per month.
